Welcome to April Chandler’s Transformation System!

My courses are designed for anyone and everyone who wishes to teach clients and learn more about body awareness. It is also offered as a review in techniques and exercises for those who currently work as a personal trainer, group fitness instructor or Pilates instructor.

The Transformation program incorporates a variety of established techniques including Pilates, Yoga, Tai Chi, Reiki and Ayurveda and applies the principles of the Transform Eight-Fold Path. I believe that understanding the mind allows us to understand the body; therefore, Sports Psychology and Realtime Muscle Imaging™ have also been implemented into the instructor training courses.

There are many different ways of interpreting fitness training. While all versions are excellent and present different points of view, I personally prefer to use techniques and movements from all walks of life and from various countries, states and systems. I believe in the philosophy of Bruce Lee’s Jeet Kune Do, which suggests that we take what is needed from the various systems in order to personalise instruction for the individual client. As the DNA and muscles of two individuals are not alike, it is unrealistic to presume that all clients will benefit equally when given the exact same program and training system. Also implemented in the instructor training courses are the beliefs of great visionaries in the field, including the Taoists’ approach, which originated over three thousand years ago.

These courses suit professionals with no previous teaching experience who are serious about continuing education and self improvement. While an instructor may become experienced in performing and instructing techniques learned, only hands-on experience and interaction with clients can provide the instructor with an ongoing learning opportunity. Based on this, twenty-four hours of instruction along with one hundred hours of practical training (to be documented in a portfolio, online anatomy and physiology exam and video assessment) will be required before certification can be awarded.

Beginning at the age of thirteen, I became certified as a coach/teacher in various sports and fitness concepts. I continued to expand my career and experience while serving in the Royal Navy for a term of five and a half years and competed against Olympic Gold Medalist Dame Kelly Holmes in the 400m and 800m. I was also number one in the Royal Navy in various sports, including Triathlons for the term of my service representing the Royal Navy in Tri-Service competitions. After leaving the military, I continued my practice and education by completing every available course related to the health and fitness field, earning accreditations in Sports Psychology, Pilates mat and equipment training, Ayurveda, Thought Field Therapy and Reiki. I became certified in Pilates under the instruction of Michael King (through Alan Herdman) and then became a presenter/assessor for Michael King. As a result, my early work embodied their interpretations. I have developed my education program based on my own vision and interpretation of health and fitness.

As a teacher, educator and practicing Buddhist, I hope that all of my students develop and incorporate their own style (using the latest research and resources) and improve the standards of health, fitness training and rehabilitation for both current and future clients.
